KUALA LUMPUR: The “who’s who” of the entertainment scene attended the Royal Gala Screening of 1957 Hati Malaya at the Mellium Galleria in Suria KLCC last night.

Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the film’s royal patron, graced the occasion with Raja Muda of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah, Raja Puan Besar of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim Davidson, the Regent of Negri Sembilan Tunku Naquiyuddin Tuanku Ja’afar and Tunku Puan Muda Negri Sembilan Tunku Nurul Hayati.

The film is about five young people – Salmi ( Maya Karin ), Hali ( Rusdi Ramli ), Rafik ( Adlin Aman Ramli ), Ani ( Sharifah Amani ) and Ang Lee ( Douglas Lim ) – who have been assigned to produce a picture book to commemorate the country’s 50th year of independence.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the singing career of actress Matsu Takako.

In honor of that, NHK will air a documentary special, titled “Takako Matsu: Kanojo ga Utau Wake,” on November 9. It will be shown in the network’s “Premium 10″ (10:00pm) programming slot.

Matsu grew up in a family of actors, and she made her own stage debut in 1993.

However, she had dreamed of becoming a singer ever since she was a child, when she would sing Matsuda Seiko tunes to herself while playing the piano.

“I don’t care the place to hang out. However, mamak restaurant would be my first choice because the place is more relaxing, we can stay there up to 3 or 4 hours. Definitely this is my best activity to do with my friends. All hard days work will go away just by sitting together with my friends.
