Emelda Rosmila, Manja lara
Two become one, that is the meaning of the drama title Manjalara, that was aired in the evenings at TV3. It is the combination of two names, Manja and Lara, the same person but with two personalities at two different time. The first block introduces us with Manja, a naive 18 years old, fat, cute, nice, and love by all. However, she was hated by her auntie because she is going to inherit her late father’s money and house.
Now, the drama have come into the second block, and Manja has been changed into Lara, a beautiful girl, stylish and want to pay back to all that have hated Manja before. Lara was just came back from foreign country is more mature and a little bit arrogant, but only arrogant to those who have hated Manja.
The one who has the role of Manja and Lara is Emelda Rosmila has proven to gain viewers to feel the pain of Manja and the hatred of Lara. Emelda Rosmila who was seen in Manjalara shooting location in Ampang, Selangor share her anxiety to tell the story of both Manja and Lara.
Its not easy to bring the character of Manjalara, however the chance shouldn’t be wasted, coz it will come only once. She was accepted to bring the role of Manjalara after two days of auditioning. Talking about gaining weight for Manja’s role,
“The producer need to support my expenses to slim down by body again,” - Emelda, grinning.
She was previously gained 6 kilograms, and now she was able to bring back her weight to an ideal BMI of 49kg.
“Fat suit is not that difficult for me, however I got some allergies at my back and it’s quite hard for me to go to the toilet while I’m in that suit,” - Emelda, while saying that it only took 10 minutes to put up the fat suit.
Talking about Lara, Emelda, the sister to Amelia Rosnaida says, “there are times when I accidentally brought Manja’s act into Lara’s. While knowing that Lara’s role is more heavy and deep”.
Manjalara fill the slot from Monday to Thursday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Manjalara got a lot of viewers from TV3. Early stage of Manjalara, they’ve got around 500,000 viewers and nowadays, the viewers have increased up to 1.9 million viewers! The telenovela was taken from a Venezuela’s drama called ‘Me Gorda Belle (My Sweet Fat Valentine)’, and was translated to be suited into our taste.
“Even though Emelda is not a popular actress, she has proven that she is successfull in carrying the role in Manjalara” - said Kabir Bhatia (director) about Emelda’s talent.

i’m with this drama.. funny and full of scandal
yeaps.. really a funny story.. but sumtimes kinda hate lara. whatever people have done to you, there’s no excuse on doing bad things to others.

i like this drama….full of conflict and an interesting story….
It is a very interesting drama. Modern day down to earth. But it is a little far fetched. Imagine Sahara keeps on killing and there is no way to catch her - so slimy.
The police even accepted the fact that Heri committed suicide. So stupid to shoot oneself in the stomach.
It really makes the police force looks silly and stupid. And so gullible, don’t you think so.

Maybe they took out the investigation from the story line to save up several days of filming. After all, Manjalara drama was reduced to half the episodes from the original story that they adapted from.

Manja is so cute and cubby. I know that it is not an easy character but this movie is very interesting. This
movie is a bit scared that Sahara keeps on killing seem evil, i still like this movie not even once i miss this movie. It is one of my favuorite movie. The best charasters for me are Manja and also the evil Sahara. Just emagine what while happen to the last episode.

yeah.. it’s a good drama.. it has been years before we could enjoy such a good local drama.
it seems i’m getting fed up pulak … sahara got away with anything … macam di perbodohkan pulak … like all the movies … the bad got smarter and smarter but the good ones is stupid … juz like lara … i thought the police is smart but here its something else … i want to be like sahara … smart woman …
we think they purposely make sahara got away with everything just to make everybody hates her. so that the ending of the drama would be more dramatic.. don’t you think???

annyonghaseyo, haneunyoung here. actually o’m a korean-malaysian, my mother is a pure malay(muslim) while my father is a korean and yhat makes me half korean half malaysian. i can’t really speak malay as i was born and had lived in korea for 19 years (just move here 8 months ago.) but i can speak korean well, though. i’ve watched manjalara on tv3. thank god there was english subtittles. only that i could understand. anyway i like emelda’s acting.and she resembles eugene kim( one of the famous korean stars) to me. ok, that’s all from me.bye
