Actress Kang Hye Jung has been cast in an American film entitled “Wedding Palace.”
Kang Hye Jung’s management agency YG Entertainment said Kang has been cast in the film to be directed by Korean-American film director Christine Yoo.
The romantic comedy is about the life of a couple from two different cultural backgrounds who meet in Los Angeles and get married.
Korean-American actor Brian Tee, who appeared in “Fast and the Furious,” will also star.
The film will be produced by TU Productions, jointly founded by Yoo and Tee.

Actress Choi Jung Won has been cast as the heroine of a new history drama series entitled “Land of the Wind,” which will begin airing on KBS in September.
The drama series will be about the life of King Muhyul of the Goryeo Dynasty, and Choi Jung Won will take on the role of a Buyeo Princess with whom the king falls in love.
Choi Jung Won’s character, who weds the king, is a dignified young woman who is highly competent in the science of medicine.
Producers of the show described Choi Jung Won’s character as a young woman who is forced to weather many storms in life and is an extremely strong person as a result of her past experiences.

Teen actress Omasa Aya will be taking on her first starring movie role later this year.
She will appear in Ryuichi Hiroki’s “NEW TYPE: Tada, Ai no Tame ni,” based on a drama she starred in a few months ago.
Omasa Aya has primarily appeared in various BS-i dramas, though she has started getting more exposure on major networks this year with roles in “81diver” and “Taiyou to Umi no Kyoushitsu.”
Her upcoming movie is based on an episode of BS-i’s “Koisuru Nichiyoubi NEW TYPE” in which she played a young girl with psychic powers.
“NEW TYPE” opens in theaters this November.

23-year-old idol Okubo Mariko has “graduated” from the gravure world.
According to Okubo Mariko, her latest DVD and photobook are her last, as she has decided to focus on building a career as an actress.

Filming has just started for Ayase Haruka’s next film, a youth sports comedy titled “Oppai Bare” (”Breasts Volleyball”).
Ayase Haruka stars as a well-endowed middle school teacher and adviser to the school’s pathetic male volleyball team.
The film’s title refers to her means of motivating the young boys: she promises to show them her breasts if they win in the big tournament.
Ayase Haruka’s bust actually launched her career in 2001, when she entered the entertainment world as a gravure idol.
Since then, however, she has been active mainly as an actress.

Actor Ikeuchi Hiroyuki is appearing in his first foreign film, having been cast in a Hong Kong movie directed by Wilson Yip.
The movie, which has a tentative English title of “Yip Man,” is a semi-documentary about the life of martial arts master Yip Man, known as the teacher of Bruce Lee and many others.
Ikeuchi Hiroyuki plays a Japanese military officer named Miura who eventually has a showdown with Yip Man, played by Donnie Yen.
Ikeuchi Hiroyuki is reportedly the only Japanese actor appearing in the film.
Ikeuchi Hiroyuki shot his scenes in Shanghai during April and May, after being offered the part only two weeks earlier.

Actor Tamaki Hiroshi is taking the lead in an upcoming suspense film titled “Manatsu no Orion,” directed by Shinohara Tetsuo.
Based on the novel “Raigeki Shindo Juukyuu-ten-go” by Ikegami Tsukasa, the movie is set near Okinawa during World War II.
While the main focus is a naval battle between a Japanese submarine and an American destroyer, the film also portrays the personal relationships among those involved.
Tamaki Hiroshi plays the warm-hearted captain of the submarine. His close friend and colleague is being played by CHEMISTRY’s Dochin Yoshikuni, who is making his acting debut with this role.

Spitz is coming out with their first new single in over a year. Named “Wakaba,” the song will be used as the theme for Nakahara Shun’s film remake, “Sakura no Sono.”The band’s last movie tie-in was about two years ago, when “Mahou no Kotoba” was used in “Honey and Clover.”

Cha Seung Won (38) showed off his dreadlocks while in Seoul this morning to promote his upcoming flick Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth.
In the movie, the Kick the Moon actor portrays a brilliant criminal who is tracked down by a top detective ( Han Seok Kyu ).
It took 7 months to film the highly-anticipated action flick. Shooting locations included Seoul, Jeju Island and Busan.
The final scene, which was shot in Busan earlier this year, involved Han’s character raiding Cha Seung Won’s gang at the Busan harbour. The set-up included many extras and numerous land and sea vehicles.
Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth, which is directed by Kwak Gyeong Taek (Typhoon) is scheduled for a July 31 release in South Korea.
