The Shibasaki Kou - Fukuyama Masaharu collaboration known as KOH+ is back with a new song.

The pair previously did the theme song for the drama series “Galileo,” which they co-starred in last year.

With the series getting a movie this fall, they naturally are doing another song, a love ballad titled “Saiai.”

Ikeuchi Hiroyuki Cast in HK Martial Arts Film

ikeuchi hiroyukiActor Ikeuchi Hiroyuki is appearing in his first foreign film, having been cast in a Hong Kong movie directed by Wilson Yip.

The movie, which has a tentative English title of “Yip Man,” is a semi-documentary about the life of martial arts master Yip Man, known as the teacher of Bruce Lee and many others.

Ikeuchi Hiroyuki plays a Japanese military officer named Miura who eventually has a showdown with Yip Man, played by Donnie Yen.

Ikeuchi Hiroyuki is reportedly the only Japanese actor appearing in the film.

Ikeuchi Hiroyuki shot his scenes in Shanghai during April and May, after being offered the part only two weeks earlier.

Tamaki Hiroshi Stars in Naval Epic Manatsu no Orion

tamaki hiroshiActor Tamaki Hiroshi is taking the lead in an upcoming suspense film titled “Manatsu no Orion,” directed by Shinohara Tetsuo.

Based on the novel “Raigeki Shindo Juukyuu-ten-go” by Ikegami Tsukasa, the movie is set near Okinawa during World War II.

While the main focus is a naval battle between a Japanese submarine and an American destroyer, the film also portrays the personal relationships among those involved.

Tamaki Hiroshi plays the warm-hearted captain of the submarine. His close friend and colleague is being played by CHEMISTRY’s Dochin Yoshikuni, who is making his acting debut with this role.

Spitz Provides Theme for Sakura no Sono

Spitz is coming out with their first new single in over a year. Named “Wakaba,” the song will be used as the theme for Nakahara Shun’s film remake, “Sakura no Sono.”The band’s last movie tie-in was about two years ago, when “Mahou no Kotoba” was used in “Honey and Clover.”

More details about the film were announced in May.

Cha Seung Won Shows off Dreadlocks

cha seung wonCha Seung Won (38) showed off his dreadlocks while in Seoul this morning to promote his upcoming flick Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth.

In the movie, the Kick the Moon actor portrays a brilliant criminal who is tracked down by a top detective ( Han Seok Kyu ).

It took 7 months to film the highly-anticipated action flick. Shooting locations included Seoul, Jeju Island and Busan.

The final scene, which was shot in Busan earlier this year, involved Han’s character raiding Cha Seung Won’s gang at the Busan harbour. The set-up included many extras and numerous land and sea vehicles.

Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth, which is directed by Kwak Gyeong Taek (Typhoon) is scheduled for a July 31 release in South Korea.

Song Hye Kyo Teams Up with Michelle Yeoh

Hallyu star Song Hye Kyo teams up with Michelle Yeoh from “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Memories of a Geisha” fame to target the Asian public.

According to the film magazine “Variety,” Song recently signed a contract with Stella Entertainment, located near Taiwan, for her work overseas.

Stella Entertainment was established by Michelle Yeoh, Terrance Chang (who produced “Mission: Impossible 2″ and “Face-Off”) and entertainment agent David Tang.

Variety magazine wrote that “Song Hye Kyo became extremely popular [with the Asian public] after co-starring with Rain ( Jeong Ji Hoon ) in the TV drama, ‘Full House.’

Rain to Return to Music This Fall

He has finally announced that he will be returning to the music business this September.

Rain held an official event with his Japanese fan club, “The Cloud,” on June 30th at the Tokyo Dome JCB Hall.

He announced at the event that he would return as the “singing Rain” with an album for Asian fans “possibly as soon as September.”

At the fan meeting, Rain performed his hit songs, “I Do,” “How to Avoid the Sun” and “Instead of Saying Good-bye.”

Sato Eriko to Star in Shayo Movie

sato erikoOn Wednesday, it was publicly announced that Dazai Osamu’s best known novel, “Shayo” (”The Setting Sun”), will be turned into a motion picture.

Director Akihara Masatoshi is in charge of the adaptation, which is set to start filming this November.

The novel, first published in 1947 a year before Dazai’s death, examined the need for social change in postwar Japan.

The cast has already been decided. Sato Eriko, said to be a big Dazai fan, is starring as the heroine Kazuko.

The supporting cast includes Nukumizu Yoichi, Ito Yosuke, Rinka Sera, Masago Kota, Ogura Ichiro, and Takahashi Hitomi.

Minamisawa Nao & Mizobata Junpei to Star in Akai Ito

In April, it was announced that hit mobile phone novel “Akai Ito” is getting a combined drama and film adaptation later this year.

Fuji TV has now revealed that the lead characters will be played by teen stars Minamisawa Nao and Mizobata Junpei.

The story was one of the best-selling novels of 2007, similar to the success of “Koizora.”

However, Puteri Sarah Liyana was proposed to be in another movie. She will be co-starring with Raja Lawak’s Nabil in the movie called, “Lu Pikirlah Sendiri De Movie”.

In the film, Puteri Sarah Liyana, 22, will take the role of Natasha, an arrogant college student who is fighting with Nabil.

However, Natasha began to like Nabil bit by bit.

Puteri Sarah Liyana will further her studies in Hotel Management in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam next month.

Director Aminah Rhapor will make sure that the shooting will not effect her studies.
