Vietnam Miss Universe Pageant 2008 is a golden opportunity to advertise Vietnam’s people and tourism to the world.
The final contest will take place at the Diamond Bay Resort, Khanh Hoa province, Nha Trang city, with a nine-minute clip about Vietnam that will be televised live and on NBC channel for 2 hours beginning at 9 AM on 14th July 2008.
It will be watched by over 13 million viewers in the United States and by more than 1 billion viewers over 170 countries and territories, including Vietnam with its population of over 80 millions people.
Throughout this event, Vietnam will definitely send messages and images of Vietnam and its people to the world.

Singer MISIA, who celebrated the 10th anniversary of her debut in February, has announced that she will embark on her first concert tour throughout Asia.
The tour will start in Taipei on August 30 and end in Hong Kong in early October, stopping along the way in Singapore, Shanghai, and Seoul.
It is estimated that a total of 70,000 fans will attend the five shows.
MISIA performed for the first time overseas when she held a concert in Taipei last September.
She had become popular there due to the success of Fuji TV’s drama series “Yamato Nadeshiko,” which used her “Everything” as its theme song.

ACTOR-SINGER Edison Chen might have re- turned to Hong Kong to apologise but the nuclear fallout continues.
Five more women are said to be involved in the sex scandal, after the police found more pictures in Chen’s possession, says SingTao Daily.
They add to a list of seven named so far, including artistes Gillian Chung and Cecilia Cheung.
Singaporean blogger Dawn Yang, 24, is glad that she is not one of them.
She revealed that she met the actor through friends while holidaying in Japan in 2004.
In her blog on Stomp, the Straits Times’ social networking and citizen media website, she said Chen made salacious propositions to her over Internet messaging.

FANS in Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia were still reeling from how Singapore’s Hady Mirza had trumped their respective vocal Goliaths, namely Mike Mohede, Mau Marcelo and Jaclyn Victor.
The trio were the hot favourites for the Asian Idol title, with Hady, Vietnam’s Phuong Vy and India’s Abhijeet Sawant trailing behind.
Host country Indonesia’s entertainment reporters, for one thing, had tipped their countryman Mohede as the frontrunner.
One of them, Eny Kartikawati, wrote on the Detikhot news portal that Hady’s win disappointed three of the show’s six judges, namely Indonesia’s Indra Lesmana, Malaysia’s Paul Moss and Vietnam’s Siu Black. All had pronounced Mohede the far better performer during Sunday’s show.

Singapore’s top comedian and MediaCorp award-winning artiste Gurmit Singh has bagged yet another highest honour.
In the recently released Golden Horse Awards nominations list – the most prestigious awards for Chinese films.
Gurmit, who is noted for his portrayal of contractor Phua Chu Kang, has been nominated in the best actor category for his role in Just Follow Law by director Jack Neo.
Gurmit is the first Singaporean actor to be nominated in this highly coveted category.

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who was shooting for Goldie Behl’s “Drona” in Namibia, is now all set to take off to Singapore to attend a two-day Carnival starting Oct 20.
“It’s the Zee Carnival and I had no choice but to attend it because I love interacting with people who see my films,” Priyanka told IANS.
“Last year they held it in London and it was a big success.
It’s basically a chance for Indians to come together, put up stalls and have fun like they do at a mela.”
Back home the good news is that her father has been recovering fast.
