Sonali Bendre Wants Her Child to Need More Than Celluloid Dreams
Sonali Bendre is back on track in a new avatar donning the judge’s mantle for a musical talent hunt.
After anchoring the celebrity chat show Kya Masti Kya Dhoom a couple of years ago on television, Sonali Bendre recently made an appearance on Sony Entertainment Television’s reality show Mr and Miss Television.
Wherein she assessed the most talented and multi-faceted TV persona alongside critically acclaimed filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar.
“I guess, Indian Idol will be tougher to handle by several notches in comparison to the wannabe actors’ platform, because as an actress myself, the histrionic department is my forte.
I can feel the same pain and pressure under the arclights preceding a performance.
But having said that, judging in every given field comes with the additional baggage of responsibility.
In hindsight, I’m sure, it’s going to be exciting to shoot for the show. And anyway, music is always refreshing,” she says.
Tagging the saas-bahu sagas as an “unbelievable genre”, Sonali Bendre says that soaps are just not her cup of tea. “The question doesn’t arise of considering offers other than non-fictional content,” she says.
With the multiplex culture cashing in on the young generation, with small budget realistic movies, Sonali cites that Bheja Fry is one such fabulous film in the category of offbeat films.
Demarcating between a masala pot-boiler and art-house fare, Sonali says, “To me, every film is commercial in nature since every producer wants to make money in showbiz at the end of the day.”
And what about staging a comeback in Bollywood like other glam-moms have in the recent past like Kajol and Madhuri Dixit? “I don’t have the time to commit to film projects. My child needs me more than celluloid dreams.
The greasepaint can wait for the moment,” says Sonali.
