The Invasion 2007 : Nicole Kidman
In the première episode of VIP Access on Star Movies this Sunday, host Dominic Lau chats with Oscar winner Nicole Kidman about her sci-fi remake, The Invasion.
In 2001, Nicole Kidman starred in the horror film The Others and spooked up almost US$100mil (RM350mil) at the US box office. Now the Oscar winner is hoping to scare audiences again with The Invasion, an update of the 1956 sci-fi classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which was also remade in 1978.
In The Invasion, a space shuttle crashes to Earth carrying an alien virus. Kidman plays a Washington psychologist who learns that the virus turns humans into emotionless drones and that her son may hold the key to a cure.
When Lau flew to Sydney, Australia, to interview the Oscar-winning actress, he learnt a few secrets about Kidman, like, how she had never seen the other Invasion of the Body Snatchers movies.
“I had not seen them until (producer) Joel Silver asked me whether I was interested in this movie,” she says during the interview. “I watched both the movies and thought, ‘This is cool’.”
