Ashok Amritraj, Chairman and CEO of Hyde Park Entertainment and producer of box office smashes such as PREMONITION, DREAMER, SHOPGIRL, BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE, RAISING HELEN, and MOONLIGHT MILE, announced the launch of his latest production titled THE OTHER END OF THE LINE.

The film, a cross cultural romantic comedy, will be directed by Jimmy Dodson and the cast includes Jesse Metcalfe, Shriya Saran, Anupam Kher, Tara Sharma amongst other Hollywood artists.

The film will be released by MGM. Beginning next week, the film will be shot for 40 days before going to California and New York. The film is slated to be released first in the US by the end of 2008.

Shriya Saran To Hollywood

Just a few weeks ago, Shriya’s omnipresence was being felt all across the country, donning roles in almost all Indian languages, thanks to her mentor Shankar’s magnum opus Sivaji.

She has now got a big break, a role in a Hollywood producer backed film The Other End of the Line sharing screen space with current heartthrob Jesse Metcalfe, popular for his role in the hit TV series Desperate Housewives.

Shriya’s mother, Neeraj Saran confirms that the project happened by sheer accident, as result of a chance meeting with Ashok Amritraj on a flight to Mumbai, Amritraj discussed about the role and the film and it was all so perfect.

Shriya is more than happy to be a part of this international project. Another tidbit is that this role was earlier tuned down by Priyanka Chopra, who cites lack of dates and hectic schedules, owing to her current projects Drona and Love Story 2050, as reason for the delay.

The movie is about an Indian call center employee travels all the way to USA to meet the caller, with whom she had fallen in love, Shriya plays the role of the Indian call center employee.

This is Amritraj’s return to Indian films after his big budget extravaganza Jeans. Guys and gals are in for a visual treat with the Hollywood hunk and Kollywood heartthrob lighting up the silver screen.
