20th Malaysia Film Festival best actress, Vanida Imran, admits that she is quite afraid that producers are afraid of taking her to play a role in their movies because of her winning last August.

“I told them, I am a mother of two that makes acting as way of living. In other words, acting is what makes me able to eat. I wouldn’t destroy my career just by putting high price tags on me, and make others afraid to take me as their actress”.

“That’s why I’m accepting Tayangan Unggul Sdn Bhd invitation to star in their film called Histeria which will be directed by James Lee, even though my role is just as special appearance.”

“I accept it because the story is interesting and I would like to gain knowledge by working with James Lee that has made Malaysia proud with his film ‘The beautiful washing machine’.

“Other actors are fantastic too, they got Adlin Aman Ramli, Adman Salleh and Adi Putra. We will be cast as a lecturer in one college to confront 6 teenage actors which is the main character of the movie.”

“Even though the role is small, I consider this film as a starting point to let other producers and directors know that I’m still the old Vanida Imran”.

Vanida won the FFM Best Actress through her role in The Red Kebaya, directed by Oliver Knott from United Kingdom.

She wants to make others know that her winning didn’t change her. Vanida Imran even come to the audition recently. Even though I’ve been acting for 13 years, I still go to auditions just to make sure I’m OK with the role or not.
