PETALING JAYA: Asia’s favourite evergreen songbird, Sally Yeh, is coming to our shores again. This time, she will be appearing in three free concerts, courtesy of property developer SP Setia Bhd. The Hong Kong queen of pop – popular for chart toppers such as Autumn Comes Autumn Goes, Blessed, A Woman’s Tears and Bygone Wound – will be performing for three straight nights next month at the Sally Yeh Live in SP Setia concert at three major townships developed by the company.

Each show will kick off at 8pm at Setia Pearl Island in Penang on Aug 10, Setia Alam, Shah Alam on Aug 11 and Setia Tropika in Johor Baru on Aug 12. It will be the first time that the diva’s fans in Penang and Johor will be seeing her live in action, said SP Setia Bhd executive director CJ Khor. Last year, the property developer held the highly successful SP Setia Night of the Stars concert that featured Taiwanese singer Emil Chau and local favourites Victor Wong, Siti Nurhaliza, and M. Nasir.

“We hope to make it an annual event. It is a way of showing our appreciation to our homebuyers and to nurture vibrant neighbourhoods through community events,” he said yesterday. Khor said about 25,000 tickets have been given out to the public and homebuyers in the Klang Valley, adding: “We are hoping for a bigger response in Penang and Johor.” The folks there, he said, were excited that the concert was coming their way.

Yeh’s concerts in Penang and the Klang Valley will also feature upcoming young talent Quincy Tan, the winner of the Best Newcomer Award at the 8th Asia New Singer Singing Competition in Shanghai, China in 2005.
